We’ve all heard the story of the pilot who, using an old tiny sample size tester, extracted only water from his plane, and holding it up against the blue sky, decided it was pure 100LL AVGAS. Of course, they found his crash site not far from the airport. Whether or not this story is actually true, it’s not beyond possibility. As a safety issue, we decided to prevent this potential mistake. Our new label will provide a known white back-ground, as well as being more stylish.
To use the label, once a sample is drawn, turn the tester so the label is facing away from you and examine the contents against a known white background. If it's not blue - it's not 100 LL fuel.
The Spout
The spout serves two functions. First, it reminds you which side of the Separator from which, you pour the fuel back into your tank. Second, it makes slowly pouring the fuel easier, with less dribble.
A longer Pin
We've lengthened the actuation probe to fit those few fuel sumps which, require a longer reach. This is especially true on the engine sump of the Cessna 160. Few sample cups can reach far enough beyond the cowling surface to get a good fuel flow without distorting it. Ours can.
